This is an original cyanotype print by Emma Wheeler (unframed and unmounted) created by hand on high quality artists watercolour paper.
A4 size 210 x 297mm, ready to frame and mount.
A cyanotype is printed using an old photographic process discovered in 1842. Engineers used the process well into the 20th century to produce copies of drawings referred to as blueprints. Every print is made by hand, one at a time so no two prints are the same. The chemical mixture is applied to artist's quality watercolour paper and then a negative is exposed using a contact printing frame from 5 mins to 2 hours depending on the strength of the light source.
The beauty of cyanotype is that each print is unique.
Cyanotypes are usually prussian blue but can be toned with coffee, tea, wine tannin etc. to achieve other hues.
PLEASE NOTE: Wooden easel & other items in photo are for display only and not included with the print.
